Sulfur is one of the most common harmful impurities in steel. How to reduce the content of sulfur in steel is an important issue to improve the quality of steel. Calcium aluminate refining slag is mainly used for deoxidizing desulfurization in iron and steel refining furnace, and its desulfurization rate is more than 90%. It is one of the metallurgical auxiliary materials commonly used in iron and steel refining.
The main components of calcium aluminate refining slag are calcium oxide, alumina and a small amount of magnesium oxide, silicon oxide and so on. The content of each component has a great influence on the desulfurization capacity. The content of calcium oxide is generally controlled at 50-58%. When the content of calcium oxide is greater than 60%, the amount of desulfurization will be smaller and smaller. Excess content of calcium oxide will lead to solid precipitation in the refined slag of calcium aluminate, increasing slag viscosity and reducing fluidity. The desulfurization capacity of magnesium oxide in the refining slag is slightly lower than that of calcium oxide. A small amount of magnesium oxide can not only improve the desulfurization rate, but also reduce the burning corrosion of ladle lining and prolong the age of ladle. At the same time, there is an obvious linear relationship between desulfurization rate and time in LF refining process.
In the selection and use of calcium aluminate refining slag, it is necessary to consider the content of raw material impurities and sulfur oxygen content of molten steel to be processed, and choose the appropriate refining slag to refine steel!
